The Vanzilla gets matching feet

Posted on September 12th, 2008 by hamstar

Mean! Got my tires today so my mags put on my van, ready for you internet stalkers to steal. Well, you can try, I got 2 lock nuts on each wheel. May as well take the whole van. But don’t! I worked my ass off for that thing and everything on it… fuckers.. ahh anyway, pics:

Ahh, I love my van.

Drives so smooth now that the diff is on properly and I haven’t got 8 different types of wheels on it. Doesn’t take off in a different direction everytime you hit a bump now.

Total cost for the tires came to $825 (!!!). Had to buy 5mm spacers for the fronts cos they rubbed on the suspension, so almost didn’t fit. The backs have about 10mm clearance around the brake drum so that was close, but they fit good. Just can’t turn full lock cos the tyres will rub on the suspension arm, but the 18’s did as well.

So that comes to a total of $1620 all up! Shit. Oh well, better than spending $1000 on tires alone, so provided I sell my old mags for $800 I should save almost $200 on tires.

I hope my van is still there when I finish work. Might go for a walk soon.

Speaking of my insecurities about my van, on Wednesday, me and Nick and Feral pulled into the Caltex to get some diesel. Nick was driving, I get out to put gas in and Nick walks round, then this Maori guy who was pumping up his tires yells out “You like your van?!” to Nick. Nick’s like “Yeh!? Why?!”, to which he responds “I’ll give you a hiding for it!”, and Nick’s like “Why’s that!?” and he just continued pumping up his tires and didn’t say anything else.

We were like WTF? I looked on my van and there weren’t any swastika’s or anything (like there normally are from people drawing in the dust). So don’t know what that was about, the dude drove off. Then tonight I’m driving to work and I see the same guy driving towards me going the other way and he points at me! Got me a little bit worried to be honest…

Like christmas…

Posted on September 10th, 2008 by hamstar

Finally getting stuff done on my van. Put some switches in to do (some dodgey) stuff. Me and Nick are going to get the sounds put in on Sunday. And I got new mags yesterday. 17″ deep dish. Going to get some tyres for them today. Pretty good deal. $800 for the mags, and it’s going to be $720 to get tyres (235/45 Kingstars).

Also got me a double kick for my drum kit. Tried it out last night, is pretty mean. Just gotta get some practice in now.

More Elliot photos

Posted on July 16th, 2008 by hamstar

Yes! I found some more photos of Elliot, that I had on my gallery page.

Sleeping
Sleeping…

awoken
“WTF, did you just wake me up to take a photo?”

emerges from under the bed
Under the bed was his favourite place to hide. Then I’d drag a toy past the valance and he’d dash out and almost rip my arm off.

that look
He always had that look on his face, kind of like a “what is that, what can I do next, whats happening, where am I” but at the same time a kindof dumbfounded look…

I remember I used to get home from work and park up in my van, and he’d lope accross the driveway front the neighbours, and I’d open my van window and click my fingers and call him and he’d jump up into my van with me. :)

More pictures of Elliot

Posted on June 4th, 2008 by hamstar

Found some more pictures of Elliot, thought I might as well upload them.

Sucks without him, the flat is so empty and boring. Can’t bring myself to keep the window closed at night either, lest having buried the wrong cat, and he was to come home.

I miss him so much.

I remember I used to make a noise like a dog sniffing, and he would get pissed of and swipe me. Usually my face if he was sitting on the desk. Was so funny, like “Shut the fuck up!” *whack*

It’s different when your own cat dies as well. Not like when my families cat’s have died because everyone knew them, but my flatmates didn’t really have much to do with him so it was just me and him, which makes the bond so much stronger.

Sucks so much. I’m so lost when I’m at home now, I don’t know what to do. Just walk around aimlessly sometimes. Glancing at all the places he used to sit, hoping he’ll be there. Used to look forward to coming home from work, to see him… now I wanna stay out.

I have to go and thank the guy from number 10 for picking him up off the road and taking him to the vets as well….

My cat is dead

Posted on May 31st, 2008 by hamstar

So my cat died. Poor little bugger. :-(

Elliot

I hadn’t seen him for 3 days, Tuesday night he jumped off my bed and and up to the window. I patted him and opened the window, and that was the last time I saw him.

I couldn’t find him anywhere, looked on side of the road in the ditches so didn’t think he had been hit, thought he was locked in someones garage like last time.

So today at work I started calling vets around the neighbourhood and 1 of them said they had a tabby bought in Wednesday morning. So I left work at lunchtime today, and went to the vets and it was him. They had had him on ice since Wednesday so he was pretty cold, ice on his nose and paws. It was so sad.

I took him out to my parents house, and buried him there, cos they have a decent section and probably won’t be moving anytime soon.

He was the coolest cat though, we’d have parties at the flat, and he’d rock in like he owned the show and start climbing on people.

Used to wrestle him with my arm. Like grab his head and he’d wrap his arms round my wrist and try to bite me. Sometimes he’d fully launch at my arm and clamp on with his teeth and claws. I’ve still got big scratches on my arm lol.

Could box with him to. He’d sit back on his haunches with both arms up and I’d try and tap his head and he’d try swipe. That cut up my hands real good. Not deep scratches though. Had to have fast reactions for that.

He was a mean hunter too, always bringing rats, mice, birds, and skinks home and half-eating them for me to stand on later. Even bought home a seagull once, still alive. Trying to fit the whole thing wings outspread through this tiny gap in the window. He was so proud. I took it off him cos it was still alive but it died anyway so I gave it back to him. He was so happy like “yeah motherfuckers I gotta fuckin seagull! Woo!” He ate EVERYTHING except for the wings. Was crazy!

So sad, and for it to happen at the time where I’m at my loneliest…. fuckin sux… maybe I am cursed.

I only wish I got more photo’s of him :(

R.I.P. Elliot.

New 911 evidence in Zeitgeist

Posted on May 12th, 2008 by hamstar

Well, I dunno if its new or not, but I’ve never heard it said before even though I’ve watched the last two Loose Change movies.

Anyway, the guy is talking about it being a planned demolition and shows some stock footage of the some dude cutting into a steel girder with a gas axe (diagonally). The voice says that this is to weaken the steel so that the centre columns of the building will come down with it.

The next thing it cuts to this photo of a steel girder at ground zero after the collapse and there’s a freaking DIAGONAL CUT IN THE GIRDER but nothing left above. I was like HOLY SHIT!!! I’ve wondered how the huge central steel column box on the tower didn’t stay standing. Because the official report said each floor pancaked onto the next one until they all hit the ground. If that happened the central steel columns should still be standing right? Thats why.

Some pics that kind of show it are:

Just look for cut steel girders, they’ll be like a rectangle like you cut a box in half and are looking inside. Also, notice how badly damaged the buildings around it are from fire and trade centres falling on them and they aren’t collapsed..?

Yeah weird.

Bye bye Silvia, hello Hiace!

Posted on March 16th, 2008 by hamstar

So I sold my Silvia two weeks ago :( .

sil

Got $6400 for it which is pretty mean. I paid $7000 for it and pretty much never thrashed it. I also put $500 of new rear brakes in, and $1000 worth of soft compound anti-hydroplane tires on it so it had wicked grip in all conditions, I never once spun it out.

And it had the mean stereo setup, I did all the audio cabling in it, shielded and everything so no engine noise

But alas, losing my license twice in that thing is two times too much so I had to get rid of it.

So sold it to a friends boyfriends brother who had one but crashed it and got insurance so was looking for another one.

So anyway, saw this van on Trademe at like 730pm, rung the dude asked him some questions, told him I’d come down get it that night for $6000 cash. He said yep! So left at like 830pm and missioned it down to Tauranga to pick it up in my mates Hiace.

Got to the guys house, checked it out, all sweet. It’s even painted on the inside! Gave him the cash and gapped it, vanathon back to Auckland. Found out on the way back the lights are shit. I mean shit. High beam is like low beam and low beam is like… park lights.

Trying to keep up with Nick all the way back to Auckland because if I fall behind I won’t be able to see anything. That guy is fast, all through the Paeroa Gorge, and its my first time driving a van.

Anyways, got some spotlights for it, and some bullbars, put my own stereo in it, and now its a bit better.

Now I get to take it to Rock2Wgtn next weekend!!!

Exciting sunday afternoon

Posted on April 29th, 2007 by hamstar

So I’m lying in bed today about 4 or 5pm reading my book “Dude Where’s my country” by Michael Moore, and I hear sirens coming down the road… Really fast… and I hear vehicle engines screaming to slow down. Oh yeah.. car chase… car chase + the sharp left hander by my house = high probability of a crash :)

I jumped out of my bed as I heard the squealing of tyres and threw open my curtains just in time to see a beamer (I thought it was an RPS13 at first) slide out to the right onto the other side of the road and then spin right around going backwards and sliding back onto the other side of the road. I heard a clunk and it jumped the curb and then saw the undercover cop car come round the corner and slow down.

My whole family yelled out “fuck” a few times in a few seconds in succession as I struggled to get some clothes on while running around the house tying to find the damn digital camera. My mum pushes me out of the way and says “wheres the fucking phone the guy has jumped out and he’s running down the road, white singlet and jeans!”.

Cool a runner I thought, as my mum asks the number for emergencies… “ahh 1-1-1″ I said… dunno what that was about. Got the digi and ran out the door, the guy had apparently run behind the petrol station and into the paddocks… but the cop was just sitting in his car up by the beamer.

Final resting place

I ran up to the crash, my mate had come running out as well. Started taking photos and stuff. I went and said to the cop, “Did you see where he went? He ran behind the petrol station!” and he just sat there and said “ohh yeah we’re getting the dogs out.”. I was like oook, why don’t you just chase after him you fat fuck but yeah.

Quite a few people pulled over and it turns out that the dude in the beamer was racing a guy in a Mitsi Celeste from like pine valley road and overtook a whole lot of people including the undercover cop in a Honda Accord! Then they came round my corner, and the Celeste got round it but the beamer couldn’t handle it and spun out.

Mitsi Celeste The corner

Wasn’t too badly damaged except for the rear right wheel as you can see in the following pic, however the cops found a load of meth lab stuff in the car like 2 hours later after they had taken it apart. The cop dogs didn’t even get there till bout 1 or 2 hours later so they never caught the dude.

Forked wheel

They would have finally pulled the car out at about 10pm I guess.

You can see more photos of the crash here.
