I’m not gay, honest.

I actually like Twilight LOL

But only since the werewolves got into it. I’m actually a sucker for werewolf movies and the thought of werewolves and vampires being natural creatures and natural enemies rather than supernatural figures created by religion to keep people scared is awesome. The effects on the werewolves were mean as, and had some good fight scenes.

If there wasn’t so much lovey dovey shit and man chests everywhere it wouldn’t even be called a chick flick! And Kristen Stewart ain’t so bad on the eyes is she? ;) Likes herself a bit of grass too!

Fully slutted out.

Posted on September 23rd, 2009 by hamstar

Wow they fully slutted out Megan Fox. Not saying I don’t like to see [semi] naked chicks flaunting it but this is just pathetic. The new movie she stars in is called ‘Jennifers Body‘. It just seems so cliche, look at the movie poster even. “Red shoes no panties”, “Hell Yes!” written on the blackboard, short skirt, long legs. Female sexuality at its finest.

Ahhh, sluts eh? I almost don’t want to watch it… almost…

Box Office Data API

Posted on September 21st, 2009 by hamstar

Reading about the stink the MPAA and RIAA are kicking up about the whole P2P bittorrent thing got me thinking. I wonder if what they are saying is actually true. Are movie makers actually being ripped off by bittorrent?

I found this website called The Numbers which has a whole lot of box office data on it.

However no API. And I wanted an API that would tell me whether to feel guilty about downloading a particular movie.

So I made this: Box Office Data API

You just have to enter the movie name and year (in the url bar – no form yet) and it will tell you (if the data is available) the production costs, the gross revenue, and the net profit the movie makers made.

Here’s an example for the movie District 9 also if you look at Titanic they made over 1.5 billion bucks profit on that piece of shit movie!

The search code isn’t very smart though so it may return some dodgey results. Still beta but still useful.

Why pay for movies?

Posted on June 19th, 2008 by hamstar

So I was thinking just before, all these movies that get pirated and stuff and all the MPAA or whatever try to sue people for copying their movies.

This was while I was reading the wiki page for 10,000 BC and I see the budget was $105 million but the gross worldwide revenue was $268 million. So they got $168 million for doing that movie. And this is a movie that got rated poorly.

That is quite a pretty penny, of course it has to be distributed amongst all the actors/writers/directors etc, but seems like they’d be living comfortably off that.

So I wouldn’t feel guilty pirating that movie. And thats $168 million from cinema’s alone, so there is still all the rentals, and the DVD purchases for the many many people who do buy DVD’s. It still feels cheap to give someone a copied DVD as a gift for a birthday or christmas and stuff.

So I think they should stop being so greedy.

New 911 evidence in Zeitgeist

Posted on May 12th, 2008 by hamstar

Well, I dunno if its new or not, but I’ve never heard it said before even though I’ve watched the last two Loose Change movies.

Anyway, the guy is talking about it being a planned demolition and shows some stock footage of the some dude cutting into a steel girder with a gas axe (diagonally). The voice says that this is to weaken the steel so that the centre columns of the building will come down with it.

The next thing it cuts to this photo of a steel girder at ground zero after the collapse and there’s a freaking DIAGONAL CUT IN THE GIRDER but nothing left above. I was like HOLY SHIT!!! I’ve wondered how the huge central steel column box on the tower didn’t stay standing. Because the official report said each floor pancaked onto the next one until they all hit the ground. If that happened the central steel columns should still be standing right? Thats why.

Some pics that kind of show it are:

Just look for cut steel girders, they’ll be like a rectangle like you cut a box in half and are looking inside. Also, notice how badly damaged the buildings around it are from fire and trade centres falling on them and they aren’t collapsed..?

Yeah weird.

Zeitgeist on Religion

Posted on May 12th, 2008 by hamstar

So I watched the movie Zeitgeist the other night. This documentary about religion and the attacks on the twin towers, war profiteering.

Anyway it was basically saying that all the Christianic, Judaic, and Islamic religions all come from the same religion. I already heard from my old boss that Islam and Christianity used to be side by side, I guess I know what he meant now. Anyway, they are all copied off a myth about the Sun, and 12 apostles, which we now call the Zodiac (star signs anyone). This was the myth in 3000BC Egypt, and it went something like this:

Ages ago there was the Sun and it was called the gods sun called Ra. Every day and every Ra and Set (the dark) would fight. Every morning Ra would win, every evening Set would win. So was the eternal battle of light versus dark (like the theme in the bible). Any there were 12 somethings, Scorpio, Virgo etc, like the 12 Apostles. But yeah, you’ll have to watch it to get the full breakdown. Or you could wiki zodiac and cross reference the main themes/situations with other religions.

Black Sheep

Posted on April 7th, 2007 by hamstar

What can I say? A horror movie with sheep? So cool. This movie was quite funny in parts but really freeking gory and in some places quite scary. I guess it was a little over the top and ludicrous but it was fun and captured a lot of NZ farm culture and stuff. I’m proud of this movie. The effects were done by Weta Workshop, the same people that did Lord of the rings.

Definitely go and see this movie. It is cool. Especially if you’re in a country other than NZ.

Cowabunga dude!

Posted on April 5th, 2007 by hamstar

So went to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last night with Tasha. She said we’d be the oldest ones there but I knew she’d be wrong cos its all the older kids who remember turtles from when they were young that would be going.

It wasn’t a bad movie, could’ve had more stuff going on in it, but was still fun. The CGI was pretty good, the only thing I found a little strange was the legs went thin then real big near the feet but you get used to it.

The voices were matched pretty welll too, and the personalities were good, Mikey is still fuckin crack-up.

Overall I thought it was a cool movie, but anyone who doesn’t know the turtles or isn’t into them would think it was a pile of shit.

Transporter 2

Posted on March 20th, 2007 by hamstar

So I watched the Transporter 2 today. It was pretty cool, bus as in the first one the ending let it down. There were some extreme parts where you know that definitely wouldn’t happen and the car never gets a scratch on it, but that makes ol’ Statham look even more invincible.

I think one of the coolest parts in the movie is the start – when he beats up 4 black dudes that are trying to steal his car. And he does it with such ease and calmness, and uncaring ability.

There was parts in it were you think “WTF, this is Chip Chilleos, he wouldn’t take that shit” like when the chick enemy in it jumps in the car and holds him at gunpoint. He would have had so many chances to punch her in the side of the head knocking her out, and saving the day.

But without that, there wouldn’t be a movie of course.

I liked it overall, just the ending let it down, although opening it for thir sequel (a triquel? – no).
