Avatar

So I went to see Avatar again last night. Seen it twice now both times at the movies. Only movie I’ve ever seen twice at the theatres.

Saw it once at Skycity in 3D and then again last night at IMAX 3D. Movie is awesome. Relates to real life on so many levels.

For one, its just like everytime America (or UK in the old days) invades a country to steal their natural resources. Iraq/South America/Africa. Same old (evil) story… greedy foreign capitalist scumbags trying to make a buck leaving the country (planet) impoverished.

In the Navi’s case it would have no doubt ended in the forest dying and becoming a desert planet… the unobtanium is probably tied in with the neural network – guess we’ll find out in the sequels.

The other thing I thought was awesome is the networking thing in the planet. Imagine that! Petabytes and petabytes of biological storage linked by a global neural network. Thats how it should be. Its like a modern primitive race…

This movie makes me want to go bush. If only we had creatures as interesting on earth (I’d probably get eaten).

Also I downloaded the movie… does that make me a criminal? I paid 38 bucks in total to go see it at the movies and they made over $2 billion dollars off the thing, I don’t think they’ll mind me not forking out another $40 for the DVD.

I do think though at the end of the movie they should’ve fed all the humans to some thanators, instead of letting them go home… they’ll just come back, They’ll tell everyone how close a battle it was, someone will probably send a nuke straight at the tree of souls from outer space. What the fuck are the Na’vi gonna do then?

At least if a shuttle turn up and finds massacred people everywhere and a dead base, and multiple warships destroyed by some savages with bows and arrows it’ll strike fear into them and they might piss off never to return… but I digress, it’s just a movie.

God damn rappers

I have to say, all that rap crap and “urban” music/culture is so stupid. I was watching that “Don’t you wish your girlfriend was hot like me” music video, and there’s half naked girls jumping around everywhere. Sure they’re nice to look at but that kind of degradation of women should be kept in places like porno and mens magazines. Not the mainstream media.

Especially the things that they sing about, some of it is explicit and this music is accepted by the majority of society. The kids don’t even know what they are singing about and the parents don’t even care. You see little kids walking round with their parent’s wearing all the “homie-g” stuff, and its like WTF?! Take a look at your kids for Christ’s sake!

I have recently watched the movie Idiocracy. Although the movie is kind of a pile of crap, it is about two human army experiments that travel 500 years into the future to discover that the world has become overrun by stupidity, because of anti-intellectualism and dysgenics.

So thinking about that, I swear that this music will turn the worlds population into bumbling idiots that are OK with the degradation of women, shooting people for wearing different colours, and using the english language like a fucking retard!

Now you take a look at metal for instance, and look at the messages that are delivered through it. Although it is a medium that is probably too hardcore to be accepted by the mainstream, the messages definitely should. People have called metal “suicide music” or think that it will give homicidal tendancies, when really, when I hear urban music I want to kill people.

Lamb of God for instance, one of their songs (Ashes Of The Wake) has a voiceover of an American soldier in Iraq saying how

“I honestly feel we’re committing genocide over here,
I don’t believe in killing civilians, and I’m not going to kill civilians for the United States Marine Corp.”

Then you have Hatebreed who’s song Another Day, Another Vendetta proclaims the reason for the angryness of their songs;

Well the answer is plain to see
Just look around at this world that we’re living in.
It’s die or let die

All I see is killing
Another day, another vendetta
There is so much suffering
Another day, another vendetta

And then the amount of homeless in the country…

I see the homeless standing out on the streets
On every corner, they’re asking for money
I try to help them whenever I can but sometimes
I can’t afford to help myself.

…while the leaders spend all their money on foreign wars instead of domestic issues:

I see diseases and modern plagues of our time
The greed of our leaders have made them blind
To our problems, they spend millions over seas
While people right here are fighting wars everyday

In the same vein, there is of course, perhaps the most conspiracal band around, System Of A Down, one song of which, BOOM! proclaims again, how so much money is being spent on war, when it could be better spent on saving people that need saving.

Manufacturing consent,
Is the name of the game,
The bottom line is money,
Nobody gives a fuck.
4000 hungry children leave us per hour,
From starvation,
While billions are spent on bombs,
Creating death showers.

But System of a Down have many, many conspiratist songs, althrough the are much more poetic and somewhat cryptic than other bands.

Seriously, this stuff is what humanity needs to listen to, to think for themselves, not listen to this drivel delivered through the mainstream music genre’s.

Makes you think that there is something bigger going on here – like the goverments are trying to making us stupid by condoling this absolute rubbish.

Anyway, if you want to look up any meanings to any songs that are actually deep enough to have meanings, check out songmeanings.net.
