So was my first day today, was so much fun. I’ve got my own container bay to work on usually 2 containers at a time. I’ve also got my own gas MIG welder, and a whole bunch of brand new shit in my own toolbox. Got like, a grinder, a drill, and a super-heavy-duty grinder (all DeWalt stuff), brand new vice grips, welding helmet, gas cutting helmet, clear helmet, earmuffs, spraygun, air-powered rivet gun, welding gloves, grinding gloves, welding jacket… it’s awesome! And gas MIG is so easy to weld with, don’t even need to weave just gung ho and you get mean welds.

Today I managed to get 4 containers done and fixed, thats gotta be a pretty shit number though. Usually have to use the grinder with a sanding attachment on it (which kicks ass) to sand the plywood floors of the container, then blow all the dust out with an air hose, reattach with rivets and silicon up the door seals, and on one of them I had to reweld a bit that wasn’t welded properly.

I saw a dude replacing a corner post though, apparently any damage on them and they have to be replaced. Cut out the whole corner post with a gas axe then welded a new one in. Can’t wait till I get to do that.

However, AirNZ have already called me back about my application for the Business Analyst role, which could be worth up to 70k I reckon, I’ll find out tomorrow if I get an interview with them, then I’ll have to take a sickie to go to it.
