So my mate at work, Jason, is kind of clued up on religious stuff, and was telling me the other night about the new and the old testament.

Apparently the authors of the Old Testament never meant it to be taken literally as a bible, however various people did including Jesus did take it literally. Jesus even says in the new testament “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.” (Matthew 5:17 NAB).

So therefore we should all be killing our disobedient children, anyone who is not christian, and anyone who works on a sunday! Pretty much how they live in the fanatical middle eastern countries.

I swear, the more I read the bible, the more athiest I become. Maybe if christians read the thing they wouldn’t be christians anymore.

I found out recently, that the New Testament is just a bunch of stories about Jesus going round and performing miracles and stuff. Telling everybody to love one another and do unto others as you would have done to yourself and whatnot (which sounds pretty much like the stoner culture to me).

But the stories were written between 45AD and 140AD so imagine how many chinese whispers took place between the actual happening, and the writing. Every time the story is told again, it is exaggerated a little more. So how true are those stories then?

And then I find out that the stories in the New Testament were all hand picked, so only the good ones were included. All the ones that could, I guess, show Jesus in a bad light or not adhere to the agenda of the choosers, were discarded and are called the Gnostic Gospels. There is even one written by Mary Magdalene, Jesus’ missus, which is not included. Of all the stories written about Jesus, you think you’d would want her one in there, right?

I haven’t read the Gnostic Gospels yet, but I think whoever put together the New Testament and the whole Christianity religion has some other agenda. There were many other messiahs around the time of Jesus, and I think their message was simple and clear? Do to others as you would have done to yourself.

If only everyone lived by that. I try to.

I think religion is unnecessary and only serves to control people, and control thought. Plus, God is a cunt. But that is for another post.
