Religion
I have a strong disdain for religion. I beleive the only thing it does is control people, and control knowledge, and control thought. Yet some elements seem to make sense, and I still have christian and muslim friends.
It is basically a tool for controlling the masses. There is no scientific evidence of any omnipotent being, yet there are people who have blind faith, and think that if everyone else believes it it must be real.
This can be said about many things, not just religion. It’s called herd conformity, being part of the heard and fitting in. Which is fine, people can do whatever the hell they want who the hell are we to tell them what to do?
But who the hell is god, or the bible to tell them what to do? I mean seriously, if I was out walking, found a childrens book about a crocodile, and then started a religion preaching everything from that book, pulling hidden meanings and proverbs from the book and worshipping a giant fucking crocodile statue you would think I was nuts!!!
Unless I got 10,000 other people to do it to.
So then how can we trust the bible. A purported 2000 year old scripture telling tales about a poor carpenter turning water into wine and so-on and so forth. Maybe this carpenter was also a magician? The first magician? And everything he did was an illusion? People seem to be as amazed at magic shows as they are at those big christian convention where they ‘heal’ people.
Not only that, but if you read the old testament, even the new testament, you will see that god is actually very evil. Unleashing plauges, and vengeance, and disease, and making people rape, murder and commit genocide in his name. He is not a very nice fellow.
And then you have Satan. Sure everyone thinks Satan is evil because the bible says so and he is God’s enemy and god loves us. It is said that Satan was once the most beautiful angel, and Gods left hand, and was cast into hell when he and some other angels tried to overthrow god.
So everyone naturally assumes Satan is evil. He was trying to overthrow God’s postion of power. But if God was evil unleashing unspeakable things onto humanity, then does that make Satan evil if he wants to overthrow god? Keep in mind that Satan was an angel at this point.
So Satan, seeing how evil god is being to ‘his creations’ (were they really his? Is the bible true or a work of fiction), decides that he can’t bear to see the cruelty wraught upon these poor creatures, decides to OVERTHROW GOD.
You would do it to if you saw some kids being cruel to an animal?
My Religion
If am still kind of blurry when it comes to religion.
If I beleive in God then I beleive he must die, and I would beleive that Satan was right in trying to overthrow him and he should have suceeded, so I would probably hail to Luciferianism.
If I don’t beleive in God, then I am probably more likely to hail to LaVeyan Satanism or at the very least Existentialism, which are both very individualistic religions, but still religions at that.
At the end of the day I’m probably a mix of all that but I’m going to stick with Atheist. I don’t want to live my life by a set of rules. This life is a gift, we are very lucky to be here each and every one of us, if you think about all the variables involved that enabled us to exist.
I don’t want to waste this life if there is no proof of an afterlife. I’m not going to just beleive and have blind faith and give my life to god and then find out it was all a load of bullshit. Life lessons taken from a story about a carpenter who moonlighted as a magician and illuded everybody he met.
That would make Jesus the evil one wouldn’t it?
Just think about it. Apply rational thought, critical thinking.
