Drugs

All drugs should be legal.

Drug addiction should be treated as a social health problem not a criminal one.

There should be clinics to get clean needles/drugs from paid for by sales tax on cannabis/alcohol and the money saved from paying police to arrest drug addicts and investigate drug crimes. These clinics will have trained staff who can save people from overdoses.

The clinics will also provide access to rehabilitation and drug addiction programs at every opportunity. Research into drug addiction and how drugs affect the brain should also take place with studies, surveys, volunteers etc – if that won’t drive the addicts away.

With drugs being legally and available pure from a pharmacy cheap or free, it will no longer be profitable for criminals, drug dealers and gangs to produce drugs anymore.

My hypothesis is that after a few years use of harder drugs can be reduced and in turn spending on the project will be reduced as well. There will be less people suffering from drug addiction.

Of course the problem of what the gangs, criminals, and drug dealers will do once a source of revenue is taken from them must be looked into.
