Wrath

Fuck yeah, Lamb of God released their new album Wrath on Tuesday, and my brother went out and bought it.

Lamb of God - Wrath (cover 2009)

All I can say is it is fucking awesome and probably the best metal album of the year. Its got heavier blast beats, thumping and frenzied double kicks, mean riffs that start and stop abruptly, and wickedly politically charged lyrics again as well.

Contractor for instance is a song about the dodgey Blackwater Mercenaries in Iraq and all the war profiteers:

Chopping lines in international sand
Feeding blood junky habits of the elephant man
Quenching his thirst with black water rising
Executive outcomes on a burning horizon

Not sure about this verse, but the Blackwater rising has got to be about the Blackwater mercenaries (now Xe) and the burning horizon has got to be the oil pipelines on fire…?

Privatize to conceal all the lies,
And big business is boomin’ like its the 4th of July,
No need for all the formalities,
Jump the kangaroo courts and plant the lynching trees

Obviously all the business is privatized, Blackwater are hired guns who don’t have to follow the Geneva conventions cos they are not under a government; so they can rape, kill civilians, kill anyone and do anythign they want basically. Big business is booming, all the defence contractors (Halliburton, McDonnel-Doglas, Boeing, Northrop-Grumman, Carlyle, and Blackwater) and the rebuilding contractors etc making shitloads of money.

Someone has got to die
Ours is not to reason why
Ours is but to do if the pay rate’s right
Black liquid assets fuck the mujahideen
Paint their picket fences red with the American dream

If the pays right who cares if civilians are dying, if the country is dying, they’re getting paid!! Black liquid assets obviously oil, fuck the Mujahideen who are the people trying to fight back against the US who invaded THEIR country, and they should be able to keep the oil because it is in THEIR country so it is theirs not the US’s.

Yeah… fucking good shit guys…

This dude is onto it

Posted on February 24th, 2009 by hamstar

I was reading this article on digg about where wars are fought in the world and a user called VitriolAndAngst had commented on it.

It is the smartest and most informed comment I have seen on the subject I just had to post it.

Makes me wonder if humans aren’t acting more like a pathogen on the earth, than a intelligent life form that can plan ahead.

Of course, the solution is that we need to be able to choose leaders that aren’t party of crony capitalist conspiracies and/or psychopaths.

The worlds great problems, can all be traced to someone making a lot of money selling them weapons, or working with their leaders to steal their resources (I’m thinking of you World Bank).

When we have small tribes, and come face to face with our leaders, the chance of getting these psychopathic individuals, who would rather have a war and slaughter people, if it means 20% more profit — and damn the consequences, well, those folks don’t pass the smell test. Our society has grown more complex and the layers of accountability, further apart. The wealthy, the educated, and the powerful, have grown disconnected from the plebes. and our impression of them, is massaged through a TV screen.

Obama may be a good leader on our side, but he has to make happy, very powerful and selfish mega-corporations, who could pull the plug at any moment on our economies.

So ecosystems, get exploited, because we have allowed people to get control, who only care about how large their slice of pie is. The cancer is more valued than the body it feeds on. The King, more worthy than all his people.

If you took the average person, in America or almost any nation, they would say; “I have enough, there is no reason to take what this other country has.” No decent person, want’s another car, if they realize it could mean the starvation of a small village. The problem is, that too many common people, do not think that what they do effects others. The problem is, too many people think that they don’t owe the world, and other people respect and gratitude.

It is not enough to be more powerful, to just have won. There will soon come a time, when we once again value grace and honor — and know what they mean

Well put dude, extremely well put.

My Poor Mum

Posted on February 22nd, 2009 by hamstar

When me and my brother got home from seeing Joe play the other night we walked in to find a note my mum had left on the ground saying “I HAVE HEADLICE” (apparently caught them from her friends kid).

So me being the smartass that I am, promptly changed it to say: “I HAVE HERPES.” hehehe…

My dad wakes up at 5 in the morning to go to work, sees the note and says to her “Why did you write I have herpes on that bit of paper?”
“I didn’t..?” my mum replied.
“Come look,” said my dad.

She went out and read what it said, and puzzled, went back to bed thinking she had alzhiemers, and wondering how they would test for it, and wondered if she should make an appointment to the doctors (apparently she had forgotten something the week before as well).

Until my brother got up at 7 and came up to her and said “Did you see Roberts note?”

Iron Maiden runners up concert

Posted on February 22nd, 2009 by hamstar

Joes band A Beautiful Chaos was one of the runners up to front for the Iron Maiden concert. Apparently Chuggernaut won it. But they had a concert for all the runners up at the Kings Arms on Thursday which me and Becky and Mope went to. Becky’s friends play in Sonic Altar which were also runners up.

Was pretty mean, a band called The Jealous Itch started then it was A Beautiful Chaos then it was Sonic Altar and we left after that.

Anyway the lead guitarist of Joe’s band left so finally he’s able to play some lead. Previously he was doing rhythym in the back, but now he’s mixing the two up. Which is great for him because he’s a wicked guitarist and I think he was a little bit wasted being in the back there. He can do some mean technical riffs of which I shall insert some videos here soon. I thought I had them on here already but apparently not :( .

But yeah, real good to see him up front, and it was his first time playing lead for the band live, and he fucking rocked it so I’m real stoked for him.

Caught up with him a bit after the concert which was mean cos I haven’t seen him in ages, but had to leave early (1am) cos I was riding with Shelley and Tesh early the next morning.

But yeah, mean shit.

Random Welly Roadtrip

Posted on February 22nd, 2009 by hamstar

Me and Nick are trademe whores. What can I say.

I wake up about 6pm after my last nightshift and find a text from him asking if I wanted to go on a roadtrip the next day. I said yeah sweet and texted the people I was buying my motox boots and helmet from and told them not to post them cos I was coming down country.

Alpinestars Tech 10's Fox V3 Pilot

So I went for a drink with Becky and B-rad up at the trig. Sitting on the back of the utes watching the sunset over the Waitoki valley drinking beer is fucking mean (if you replace beer with something tastier anyway).

Shelleys 21st

Posted on February 10th, 2009 by hamstar

Well I should’ve posted this last month when it happened (17th Jan) but I am lazy.

Heaps of people came. All our crew was there, all her friends from school (of which a couple of older siblings are our mates so they turned up too). Her friends from work and stuff, which some of them were gay and lesbian which was pretty crack up. And all her friends from work were coming up to me and going “Oh, you’re Chumba, heard a lot about you,” and stuff I guess she talks bout me at work lol.

Someone gave her a painting of her ute “Danger” which was a mean gift. Sadly tho, that ute was written off a while ago when some girl driving a honda went up her ass. Nick bought it off Shelley’s insurance company and now it sits in a shed waiting to be turned into a rat rod – a side project for later lol.

Her boss gave her a socket/toolset, because they saw her in the carpark of work pulling her ute apart to fix a speaker and stuff and were like “umm, wtf are you doing?” apparently. Lol.

I gave her a ticket to the Summer Slaughter in March which should be fucking mean.

Summer Slaughter Poster

Dying Fetus, Necrophagist, The Faceless, Aborted, Ulcerate and Dawn of Azazel in one room. Its a small room too… the Transmission room in Auckland. Mosh pit will be crazy!! Its so mean that she’s into metal and likes metal concerts. How many girls you know like that? Fuckall thats how many!

Also gave her a little comic book which I randomly picked up at a bookstore and thought it was her kind of humour. It is not unlike the Cyanide and Happiness comic on explosm.net

Not too much death metal was played but it probably would’ve scared off the townies like at Nicks 21st lol. Still a good mix of Ozzy and Black Label Society and stuff though.

Got pretty drunk off a couple mugs of JacknCoke had a feed and got undrunk. Everyone else was quite well pissed, except for Shelley, and people driving. Bo was wrestling everyone which got annoying quickly, but thats what you get when you hang around with a 10 ft maori so whatever lol.

Whipped out the cake and she cut it up with the sword from their foyer wall, like Nick did at his 21st. Did the 21 shots thing, which was Baileys mixed with contreau. I thought the person turning 21 was supposed to drink all of them but apparently that might leave you paralytic lol, dunno not really a big drinker, so everyone had a shot instead.

Joel got real drunk and we wouldn’t let him drive home but it was OK because he couldn’t walk. We dragged him inside threw him on the couch and Nick’s mum took his pants… (so he couldn’t sneak off). Everyone crashed about 3am, except for a few of us who crashed at like 4am. I just slept in my van in the hammock. Which was suprisingly uncomfortable. Brad had been in it while I was driving a couple of nights before and stretched it out a bit (and ripped one of the hooks throught the sheet metal lol).

Then the next day was her actually birthday and we all rocked to the hot rod show where it was a super hot sunny day. And I HAET the sun (and sunscreen) so I wore a black hoodie (with the hood up) from the car and dark glasses to cover up. I didn’t have a hat though so my face burnt :( . People must have thought I was such a wierdo… well, they probably think that anyway haha.

Shelley bought her new ute, Sabbath into the showgrounds to show it off. Its a pretty cool kingswood, black, and we sat on it so we could see the motorcross show over everyone elses heads. Then went back to hers for some more cake and cleaned/packed up.

Mean weekend with mean people.

Need for Speed Undercover: Fail

Posted on February 10th, 2009 by hamstar

Fail.

Played it for about 5 minutes and quit.

You could liken it to Most Wanted. Except with crappy car control, crappy graphics, dumbass police AI, and no difficulty level. It is made for n00bs.

What the fuck are you up to EA?! You fucking butchered this series from Carbon, maybe even earlier.

EA sucks ass.

Edit: OK, I actually gave this a decent go and although its really “arcadey” its not too bad. The car models are good, the cop AI is not so bad. But the graphics are a little choppy.

Jamendo FTW

Posted on February 7th, 2009 by hamstar

Well, I downloaded this bands music from Jamendo called Cynicism. And they’re pretty damn good. So I donated them $10. Sure doesn’t sound like much, but they get all of that money (Jamendo takes $1), and the record companies get none. So I’m happy, and a cool band gets some money for releasing their stuff for free on the internet.

P2P can work. Fuck the RIAA.
