Stuff

Been busy lately making a new site for Telescum, one that will pull telecommunications industry stories from rss feeds into a database automatically tagging them as it goes. It’ll work on a cron so I don’t have to touch it. Because I was to busy/lazy to keep updating the current site I’d rather have one that updates itself. Should be good.

I can scratch one of the games off my to get list. Skinny kindly got hold of Pure, the quad racing game. Is pretty mean. Makes me want to get a quad even more. I’m currently trying to save up $5-6k for a Yamaha YFZ450. Should be fun. Want to get a matching covered and alarmed trailer for my van to keep it in too lol.

Unfortunately I want to buy a guitar now, but I think I’ll just wait until after I get the quad. I been jamming with Nick a bit, he’s got a guitar and I’ve got drums but we swap most of the time. He’s pretty mean on the drums. Cranks out some wicked blast beats. I’m… below average on guitar. But I’m trying. I want to downtune it to play some real brutal chords, but I don’t think it is the right kind of guitar. I borrowed it the other day when I got off nightshift and played all day at full volume, was mean.

Been helping Nick a bit with his truck as well. He bought another Hilux. Already got a Van and a V8 Hilux (the project 88), and now he got another Hilux (for free) and is going to do that up (thats what we went to get the engine for). He’s redoing the rusty panels and stuff in it. Pretty much doing a panelbeaters job, reckons it would be about $2000 work from a professional. Brochanics all the way.

Removed Hilux CabBare Hilux chassis

I think lately I’ve been a bit extreme on the attacking religion front. Each to their own and everyone is free to take up a religion of their choice (or not) as per the human rights. So, sorry if I offended anyone.

Also had to say goodbye to a friend today :( . Shit was just fucked up between us. Sad that I won’t see them again, but thats the way the cookie crumbles.

Road trip to Hastings

Posted on October 15th, 2008 by hamstar

Yesterday, me and Nick went down to Hastings to pick up and engine for his new Hilux (dudes got like 4 cars now). A Toyota 2L-T, 2.4 litre turbo diesel.

I just got off night shift and he picked me up from work at about 730. Got to Taupo after about 3 hours driving and then through State Highway 5 (the Napier-Taupo Highway). That road is AMAZING! All twisty and wicked views and no houses for miles. Lots of cool looking places to Moto-X too. Awesome road. So want a bike.

Tried to have a sleep on the way down but couldn’t, ended up taking the dash of Nicks van apart while driving on Napier-Taupo road so I could plug in my iPod and cranked some metal instead.

I also took a pad and pen along and did some data normalisation and sorted out the database layout for the new telescum site.

It was such a nice day too, got to Napier and cruised round there. Then onto Hastings, trying to find the place to pick up the engine from but we got lost a bit. Found it, but it looked like no one was home. After about 15 minutes of knocking on the door and trying to figure out how to carry the (heavy-looking) engine around a Hilux Surf, we finally woke the dudes wife up and she moved her jeep for us.

We backed the Hiace up and ended up making a ramp with a plank of wood and dragging it up. It was a heavy peice of shit. We strapped it in and then had another engine which we were delivering to Hastings, so went and found that guy, and dropped it off.

Then back on the road to Taupo. My turn to drive. By this time its about 130pm and I have been without sleep for about 21 hours, but I had a Demon and was sweet. Got to drive all the way back through the Napier-Taupo road, was mean. Except for Nicks van. Its a mean van, but the engine is a little rooted (after like 450,000k’s) so its a bit gutless. You have to gun it on the straight before a hill and then try and keep it going but you always end up having to shift down to 3rd and plodd up the hill at like 50kph. Not so mean. My van powers up hills.

We got to Taupo at about 5pm, and contemplated going to Taranaki because he’d also bought an engine stand from there (yes, Nick is a trademe whore…). But after calling the guy we worked out it would cost the same to freight it as it would cost in diesel.

Went to Pizza Hutt to get some dinner, and they were playing rap or hiphop or some shit in there. I said to the girl who served us (who looked a lot like what I would imagine a 15 year old Lilley to look like – you got a cousin in Taupo Lilley?), “God I feel sorry for you guys, having to listen to this crap all night!”, and she was like “haha, yeah…” and started blushing. Went to wait outside and Nick said to me “I think they actually put that on the stereo”. Lolwhoops!

The manager there looked like a creepy dodgey mother fucker too. Like I touch little girls kinda dodgey. Yuk!

Nick got back behind the wheel and drove until the lookout at Maramarua where we stopped for a rest and I had the longest urination in my entire life. I never knew my bladder could hold that much fluid!!! Lol, sorry, Too much information!

Then I drove back, the rest of the way. Nick fell asleep and by now its like 8pm, 28 hours without sleep, so I was swerving a little bit, maybe shouldn’t have driven lol but we’re still here.

Got back to my work at about 930pm got in my van and raced nick home. He drove on the motorway without his lights for like half the way back, crazy mother fucker.

Yeah fun times.

Why there is so much war

Posted on October 13th, 2008 by hamstar

OMG. I think I just figured it out!

You know how the bible says, blahdy blahdy blah, apocalypse, and then there will be a war to end all wars, in the middle east (gods holy land or some crap).

I don’t really remember it completely but I remember watching the movie “Megiddo: The Omega Code 2” where Satan comes back as this dude and starts a war between all the world armies, and then at the end God/Jesus kills everyone but the allied troops (though I thought in the bible it said he would kill everyone). Supposedly the first one is based off the bible, or with an evangelical outlook.

ANYWAY! I was reading a comment on Digg by KLBP on this story about American fundamentalists being no different than Taliban fundametnalists in which he said:

I used to attend an Assembly of God (same denomination as Sarah Palin) in Alaska (not same church) and yes at least from what I have seen they are as extreme as this article claims. They looked for and found evil and demons (yes demons) active in EVERYTHING they disagreed with. For instance they would preach about EVIL-lution (instead of evolution) corrupting our school systems. There was strong encouragement to only do business with and/or hire other “good” Christians (read members of the fundamentalist right) and to avoid doing business with the unsaved because they were possessed by evil spirits. They are convinced that Armageddon is upon us and God’s judgment is eminent. What is worse, some want to hasten God’s second coming by helping to spur on the war between the Jews and Arabs in the Middle East (I am not saying Sarah Palin is one of these ultra extremists).

When you are inside of this influence you don’t see how crazy it is. Now, however, that I am well removed from such influences and look back at what I saw, I realize just how extreme their views can be. I get a cold shiver up my back about the thought that Sarah Palin and these extreme religious views could be one heart beat away from ruling our country. Religious extremism is a clear and present danger, to our society and our attention on extremists from one of the world’s great religions has caused us to turn a blind eye on extremists from another one of our great religions.

Religion is not our enemy, extremism in all its grotesque forms is our enemy. Just as mainstream Muslims must repudiate and be on guard against Islamic fundamental extremists, Christians must also be on guard against and repudiate Christian fundamental extremists. If not held in check, either extreme could do terrible damage to our freedoms and way of life.

The part in bold is what made me put two and two together.

Maybe, Republicans typically being bible thumpers/war mongerors want war and instability in the Middle East so that Jesus will come back, as phropesized in the bible.

This is dangerous stuff! I mean obviously this war is beneficial to many other people but I have heard it said it is all about religion. Maybe it is? Maybe these fundamentalist religious nutjobs are killing millions of innocents just for their own selfish reasons? Why don’t other christians come out and denounce these whackjobs. If they don’t I am going to start pooling all christians into the same pyschopathic war-mongering group.

This is why I despise religion.

Edit: I don’t despise christians tho, just the republican ones :P

Reactions to my 911 Sticker

Posted on October 11th, 2008 by hamstar

Van cropped

I’ve had the “911 WAS AN INSIDE JOB” sticker on the back of my van for a while now and it’s quite funny to watch people as they drive past past me.

Some of them look at me and then when they see me looking at them stare off into the distance like they were actually looking there in the first place.

Others stare at me and then when I look at them they quickly snap their heads back, like “Holy shit what a dirty hippie,” after they see my long hair.

I even had one old dude in a flash as mercedes stare at me blatantly as he passed me in the left hand lane and then look away shaking his head. That was funny.

But most of the time its pretty positive. Had one guy with sleeves (read: tattoos) all up his arms drive past and give me the corna with a bared teeth grin. Another middle aged guy with young kids in the back passed me giving the thumbs up and nodding in agreement.

Then the other night I was in town at some lights, and there was cops in a cop car with their window down staring at me couple of lanes to my right. I yelled at them “you like the sticker?” and they were like yeah and laughed.

Most people smile at me (probably thinking “haha yep, he’s a hippie”) or nod a little bit.

I want to add in smaller letters below it tho; “THINK ABOUT IT. DON’T BE A SHEEP.”

It’s been an interesting social experiment, seeing peoples reactions.

Might replace it with another sticker soon… “GOD IS EVIL” might be a good candidate. Test the accepting…ness, of my christian friends and family members.

Fun with fire

Posted on October 10th, 2008 by hamstar

Was up at nicks the other night, and we decide to set fire to an old oil filter filled with oil. This soon turned into spraying the various aerosol cans around nicks shed into the fire. He had a whole box of degreaser. You can make snake trails of fire with that stuff!

Then feral grabs a tshirt/rag rolls/ties it up into a ball, sprays degreaser all over it, and kicks it through the fire at me. Kickin a flaming ball around in the dark was pretty fun. Until feral kicked it at me really hard, and it i had hunks of flaming cotton hurling at my face.

I thought my hair was gonna catch on fire lol.

Hehe… fun times…
