Bloodsimple

I have to say… I think I have a new favourite band. Bloodsimple.

They are awesome! I first heard them on pandora (thanks guys!) and got their first album, A Cruel World, then their second album Red Harvest. The latter is the better. The dudes voice is just amazing and the drumming is mean and the guitaring just fits it all together perfectly. Yeah its hard to explain.

They were supposed to come over in April with Korn and Chimaira and Throwdown and Biohazard but they never made it. I dunno why. They would’ve kicked Korn’s ass. I hope they come again, and as the main act.

YOU, should definitely check them out tho. Now… Go on… here’s the link. Highly recommended are Dead Man Walking, Ride With Me, and Death From Above. Suck it Up is also a mean one, like funky metal. But check them all out.

Fucking BAD ASS.

Jesus, the New Testament and the Gnostic Gospels

Posted on August 18th, 2008 by hamstar

So my mate at work, Jason, is kind of clued up on religious stuff, and was telling me the other night about the new and the old testament.

Apparently the authors of the Old Testament never meant it to be taken literally as a bible, however various people did including Jesus did take it literally. Jesus even says in the new testament “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.” (Matthew 5:17 NAB).

So therefore we should all be killing our disobedient children, anyone who is not christian, and anyone who works on a sunday! Pretty much how they live in the fanatical middle eastern countries.

I swear, the more I read the bible, the more athiest I become. Maybe if christians read the thing they wouldn’t be christians anymore.

Back home

Posted on August 15th, 2008 by hamstar

So finally moved out of the flat.

Beau and Nick helped move most of my stuff out the days before, so that was lucky, got rid of two van loads that day. Chucked it all in Nicks dad’s warehouse.

Luckily my mum came and helped us clean or else we would have never got it finished, cos it was only me and Hollie left. Troy didn’t come back to help which sucked, and Joe didn’t help out that much, cos his sister was in hospital but oh well. Had quite a bit of rubbish to get rid of so we went on a midnight rubbish mission and got rid of it in the bins of some petrol stations.

Gender Equality: not how god wanted it

Posted on August 10th, 2008 by hamstar

Any way you look at it, men run the world. There is no real gender equality. We refer to inanimate object such as cars and countries as “her”. When I talk to my van (I talk to all my cars) I refer to it as a female (like “easy girl” or “good girl”). Lots of people do this. Could this be mild chauvinism? Referring to an object as female? The same thing as objectifying females? Could be subconsciously teaching us to objectify females.

Then there is the thing where you hear kids taunting one another like “Haha, you got beaten by a girl!” and other sayings similar to this.

But where does this come from? I reckon it comes from the bible (Old Testament) and religion (but not Jesus). There are tonnes of references in the bible that degrade women as inferior to men.

Why you shouldn’t have a OneCard

Posted on August 3rd, 2008 by hamstar

Or any Loyalty card, like Flybuys and AA Rewards.

This chick at my work, Mary, is soooo clued up on politics and the proverbial ass-fucking of people by marketers all around the world. And tonight at work we happened to get on the subject of loyalty cards.

Anyways, I always knew that these loyalty cards were bad, such as Foodtown and Woolworths OneCard but just because of the direct marketing, and them knowing what you buy. But as it turns out direct marketing has other implications.
